Johannesburg – South African President Cyril Ramaphosa on Thursday appointed Mandisa Maya as the country’s inaugural female chief justice. Her appointment, effective September 1, marks a historic milestone for the nation.
Maya, currently serving as the deputy chief justice, will succeed Raymond Zondo, whose tenure concludes on August 31. President Ramaphosa made the decision following extensive consultations with the Judicial Service Commission.
