Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame has garnered widespread congratulations from African counterparts following his overwhelming victory in the recent national election.
Kagame secured over 99 percent of the vote, as reported by the National Electoral Commission, reaffirming his mandate for a fourth term. Among the first to extend their congratulations were Presidents William Ruto of Kenya, Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique, and Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea Bissau.
President Ruto conveyed Kenya’s warmest regards, celebrating Rwanda’s democratic choice and expressing optimism for continued cooperation in regional and pan-African affairs.
President Samia emphasized Tanzania’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and advancing East Africa’s unity and prosperity under Kagame’s leadership.
President Nyusi praised Kagame’s re-election and wished Rwanda success as it enters a new phase under his leadership.
President Embaló hailed Kagame’s resounding victory, expressing confidence in Rwanda’s future stability and progress.
The National Electoral Commission has counted 96.6 percent of the votes, with final results expected later this month. The ruling coalition, RPF-Inkotanyi, also secured a significant majority in the Chamber of Deputies.
