Lagos, Nigeria – July 15, 2024

The Royal African Young Leadership Forum (RAYLF) culminated in a grand ceremony on July 12th and 13th, celebrating 100 exceptional young Africans from 40 countries. Recognized for their contributions in fields like entrepreneurship, technology, and social impact, these rising stars embody the theme “Africa of the Future: Better Together.”

Touring Innovation and Meeting Leaders

Awardees embarked on a special tour of the Dangote Refinery, a symbol of Africa’s growing industrial prowess. Witnessing its cutting-edge technology, they gained a powerful understanding of Africa’s potential for economic transformation. Their journey continued in Abeokuta, where they met former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He encouraged them to pursue leadership roles and influence policies across the continent. Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State further bolstered their aspirations by pledging support and donating inspiring literature.

Welcomed by Royalty and Industry Leaders

The highlight was a dinner hosted by the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, the forum’s founder. He announced the creation of the Royal African Chamber of Commerce, aiming to foster “African Leopards” – young business leaders who will shape the coming century. The dinner also saw the launch of the N1 billion “Women Owned Micro Businesses” (W.O.M.B) fund. Spearheaded by the Ooni and SMEDAN, this initiative will empower female entrepreneurs across Nigeria through training, funding, and mentorship. The ceremony culminated with the induction of awardees into the RAYLF and the presentation of signed certificates.
