President Cyril Ramaphosa and US President Joe Biden have pledged to enhance bilateral relations between South Africa and the United States, according to the South African Presidency. This commitment was made during a telephone discussion between the two leaders on Tuesday evening.
Biden congratulated Ramaphosa on his re-election and the successful formation of the Government of National Unity. He assured Ramaphosa that the United States would collaborate closely with South Africa’s 7th Administration on critical issues such as economic growth, job creation, social development, and climate change. Biden also affirmed support for South Africa’s upcoming Presidency of the G20 in 2025 and confirmed his plans to visit South Africa and participate in the G20 meetings.
Ramaphosa expressed gratitude for Biden’s commitment and extended an invitation for a State Visit to South Africa. Dates for the visit will be finalized by the respective diplomatic teams.
