Lomé, Togo – Citizens of Sao Tome and Principe and Togo can now travel freely between the two countries for up to 90 days, thanks to a new visa exemption agreement.

The agreement, signed on June 18th, 2024, by the foreign ministers of both nations, eliminates visa requirements for holders of diplomatic, service, and ordinary passports. This move aims to strengthen ties between the countries and boost cooperation in various sectors.

“This agreement reflects the desire of our governments to foster friendship and collaboration for the benefit of our people,” said Sao Tome and Principe’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Gareth Haddad do Espiritu Santo Guadalupe.

The visa exemption is expected to facilitate travel and exchanges in the economic and tourism sectors. Officials from both countries also discussed potential areas for enhanced cooperation, including trade, maritime security, and regional peace and security.
