Lagos, Nigeria – The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission is prioritizing collaboration at key border points, as evidenced by recent visits by Mr. O. Okunola, Chief of the ECOWAS Commission Liaison Office in Lagos.
Mr. Okunola made official visits to the Seme-Krake and Hilacondji Joint Border Posts on June 26th and 27th, respectively. The visits aimed to establish strong connections with key border officials and reaffirm ECOWAS’s support for their crucial role in fostering economic and social integration, security, and other vital areas.
During his visits, Mr. Okunola met with the Comptroller Generals of both borders. These meetings provided a valuable platform to discuss operational challenges faced by the border posts. Mr. Okunola emphasized the importance of these posts in facilitating trade and cooperation among ECOWAS member states. He reiterated the Commission’s commitment to improving border operations’ efficiency and effectiveness.
Mr. Okunola assured staff at both border posts of the Commission’s continued support and dedication to strengthening overall integration and security mechanisms within the region.
