South African President Cyril Ramaphosa has called for unity and decisive action as the country prepares to inaugurate its second Government of National Unity (GNU). This follows recent elections that emphasized the public’s desire for collaborative governance to tackle national issues effectively.

In his weekly newsletter, Ramaphosa underscored the historical significance of the GNU in fostering cooperation across political lines. He highlighted the importance of upholding constitutional values such as transparency, accountability, and public participation in decision-making processes.

Key priorities for the GNU include implementing structural reforms aimed at improving the business environment and attracting investments. These reforms are crucial for addressing longstanding economic challenges and promoting inclusive growth.

Ramaphosa expressed optimism about the consensus among participating parties regarding the GNU’s agenda. He noted upcoming dialogues to further refine the government’s program and ensure diverse viewpoints are considered.

While acknowledging public expectations for tangible results, Ramaphosa cautioned against distractions that could hinder progress. He emphasized the need for all stakeholders to remain focused on delivering effective governance and meaningful outcomes.
