President-elect Cyril Ramaphosa’s inauguration on Wednesday is set to draw an array of global dignitaries, including current and former heads of state, government officials, and royalty. The event will take place at the Union Buildings in Pretoria and promises a high-profile gathering of international and South African guests.

A statement from the Presidency, released on Tuesday, highlighted the anticipated attendance of numerous prominent figures. The inauguration will feature representatives from key regional and global organizations such as the Southern African Development Community (SADC), the African Union (AU), and the United Nations (UN). At least 18 heads of state and government, three former heads of state, and nine heads of delegation are expected to attend.

Among the dignitaries, Nigerian President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan, and Ugandan Vice President Jessica Alupo have already arrived in South Africa. They were received by various ministers at Waterkloof Air Force Base and OR Tambo International Airport. Congolese President Denis Sassou Nguesso and Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa are also in attendance.

Countries sending high-level representatives include the Kingdom of eSwatini, the Kingdom of Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Namibia, Angola, Tanzania, Uganda, China, Egypt, Palestine, and Cuba. Angolan President João Manuel Gonçalves Lourenço is among those who have arrived, welcomed by Minister Mondli Gungubele.
