Juba, South Sudan – Türkiye’s top diplomat in South Sudan, Erdem Mutaf, met with Deputy Foreign Minister Monday Semaya Kumba on Monday to discuss strengthening bilateral relations.
The meeting focused on key areas of cooperation, including a framework economic agreement, higher education collaboration, security cooperation, and potential agreements on double taxation and investment protection.
Deputy Minister Kumba welcomed Ambassador Mutaf’s visit and expressed appreciation for Türkiye’s ongoing support in humanitarian aid, education, and other sectors. He emphasized the historical ties between the two nations and South Sudan’s commitment to supporting Türkiye on both domestic and international issues. Kumba also reaffirmed the government’s dedication to the peace process within South Sudan’s borders and regionally.
Ambassador Mutaf conveyed greetings from his counterpart and briefed the Deputy Minister on Türkiye’s activities in South Sudan. He reiterated Türkiye’s status as one of the first countries to recognize South Sudan’s independence and pledged continued assistance through humanitarian aid, capacity building, and other areas.
