Zambia’s newly appointed Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Duncan Mulima, has presented his credentials to Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman. During the ceremony on June 3rd, 2024, Ambassador Mulima conveyed President Haikainde Hichilema’s desire to strengthen economic cooperation between the two nations.

Ambassador Mulima extended an invitation to Omani businesses to explore investment opportunities in Zambia’s diverse economy. This collaboration, he stressed, would benefit both countries.

Oman’s Sultan responded positively to President Hichilema’s proposal. Sultan Haitham bin Tarik expressed his government’s intention to work with Zambia to accelerate economic ties.

The potential for a fruitful partnership is significant. Oman boasts a robust oil and gas industry, fertilizer production, and a thriving tourism sector. Zambia, on the other hand, is rich in arable land, mineral deposits, and abundant wildlife, offering a plethora of resources for development.

This enhanced partnership holds the promise of significant economic advantages for both Zambia and Oman.

The ceremony also saw the presentation of credentials by twelve other ambassadors, including representatives from Mauritius, Myanmar, the European Union, Canada, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Chile, Rwanda, Burundi, Georgia, Serbia, and Cambodia.
