Kenya and Canada reiterated their longstanding partnership during a celebratory event for Canada Day in Nairobi.
Permanent Secretary Roseline K Njogu of the Kenyan State Department for Diaspora Affairs sent her well wishes, delivered by Ambassador Isaiya Kabira. PS Njogu emphasized the importance of the relationship between the two nations, which has flourished for over 60 years.
“Kenya values its vibrant and strong relations with Canada,” the statement highlighted. The focus extended beyond government ties, with PS Njogu underscoring the importance of “people-to-people connections” in areas of mutual interest. Collaboration on these shared goals is seen as a path to “shared prosperity and mutual benefit.”
The event also provided an opportunity to acknowledge Canada’s support for the UN Security Council Resolution 2699 (2023). This resolution authorizes the formation of a multinational security mission in Haiti, with Kenya playing a leading role.
