São Tomé and Príncipe is seeking to expand cooperation with South Korea in key areas, President Carlos Vila Nova announced at the ongoing Korea-Africa Summit in Seoul.
Vila Nova, who addressed the summit on June 4th, expressed his country’s desire to strengthen partnerships in renewable energy, tourism, environmental protection, the digital economy, communications, trade, and agriculture.
This push for deeper ties follows a bilateral meeting between Vila Nova and his South Korean counterpart, Yoon Suk, on June 3rd. The two leaders discussed various aspects of cooperation and the broader Korea-Africa agenda.
The summit, themed “The future we make together, shared growth, sustainability and solidarity,” brings together delegations from 48 African nations, including at least 25 presidents. First Lady Maria de Fatima Vila Nova, who is accompanying the President, will participate in social events planned for the spouses of attending leaders.
