Jalingo, Nigeria – A ceremony held in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, marked the inauguration of the first 250 tractors out of a total of 850 purchased from Czech companies Vari and Šálek Prostějov. This significant development comes a year after Governor H.E. Dr. Agbu Kefas’ visit to the Czech Republic.
The event was a resounding success, garnering media attention and attracting representatives from various sectors. Economic Chancellor Mrs. Marie Nwanyanwu, representing the Czech Ambassador to Nigeria, attended the ceremony alongside Mr. Vít Horák and Mr. Pavel Šálek, representatives of the Šálek company. H.E. Mr. Peter Kevin, former Nigerian Ambassador to the Czech Republic, also graced the occasion with his presence.
The supervision of the entire tractor delivery process is being undertaken by KNIGHTS, a Czech company responsible for executing the contract. This initiative is expected to significantly boost Taraba State’s agricultural sector, and other Nigerian states have expressed interest in similar collaborations. The Czech Embassy in Nigeria extended its congratulations and expressed a keen interest in fostering further partnerships.
