Eswatini’s Prime Minister, Russell Mmiso Dlamini, received a courtesy visit on Thursday from the Secretary-General of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Secretariat, Wamkele Mene, and his delegation.

The AfCFTA delegation’s visit focuses on briefing the Eswatini government on the free trade agreement’s operations and engaging with the kingdom’s private sector. The goal is to equip Eswatini’s businesses to fully leverage the African market through AfCFTA. Additionally, the delegation will provide information on available trade financing options.

Prime Minister Dlamini welcomed the AfCFTA Secretariat’s visit, highlighting its alignment with the current administration’s vision of achieving exponential economic growth. He expressed hope for collaboration with the Secretariat to achieve this vision and unlock the agreement’s benefits for Eswatini.

The Kingdom aspires to become a launchpad for investment in Africa. They envision a rapid turnaround in reaping the agreement’s rewards, positioning Eswatini as a model of success for other African nations. The Eswatini government is actively exploring investment concepts that can deliver results within a short timeframe.
