Marrakech, Morocco – GITEX Africa Morocco 2024, the continent’s biggest tech gathering, opened its doors today in the vibrant city of Marrakech. This premier platform for technology and startups brings together thousands of exhibitors showcasing their latest advancements to a high-profile audience.
Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch, addressing attendees at the opening ceremony, highlighted GITEX Africa’s role in positioning Africa as a powerhouse in both developing and utilizing digital technologies. “Digital transformation is crucial for African cooperation, driving economic, social, and political growth across the continent,” Akhannouch emphasized.
He underscored the importance of intra-African trade, currently hindered by infrastructure limitations and complex administrative procedures. Digitalization, through e-commerce and online payments, offers solutions to simplify trade operations, reduce costs, and boost efficiency.
Morocco Unveils Ambitious Digital Strategy
Akhannouch announced the upcoming launch of Morocco’s Digital Strategy 2030, a collaborative effort between public and private sectors. The strategy focuses on two key pillars: digitizing public services and fostering the digital economy. The latter aims to cultivate Moroccan digital solutions, generate added value, and create new jobs.
