Togo’s Prime Minister Victoire Tomegah-Dogbé resigned yesterday, along with her entire government, following the confirmation of the April 29 legislative election results.
“Per republican customs, Mrs. Victoire Sidemeho Tomegah-Dogbé, Prime Minister, presented the government’s resignation to the President of the Republic today, which he accepted,” announced the presidency in a statement dated May 21, 2024.
The President expressed gratitude towards the Prime Minister and her cabinet for their service, commending the quality of their work for the nation. He requested that they continue managing current affairs until a new government is appointed.
This resignation occurred just hours before the new parliamentary session, where freshly elected deputies began their duties in the Assembly. The country now enters a transitional phase until the formation of a new government is officially declared.
