Kigali, Rwanda – The Africa Soft Power Project (ASP) is gearing up for its highly anticipated flagship dynamic four-day (May 28th-31st, 2024) summit in Kigali, Rwanda. This marquee event, the first post-pandemic iteration, will convene a powerhouse lineup of speakers to explore the theme: “Africa & the Global Community: The New Face of Collaboration.”
ASP serves as a prominent, African-led platform that champions the continent’s creative and cultural industries. Their mission is to propel Africa forward through these sectors, while ensuring African and diasporan voices are heard loud and clear in global discussions. Ultimately, ASP aspires to showcase Africa’s unique perspective and its potential to significantly impact the modern global economy.
Nkiru, Founder & Creative Director of ASP, emphasizes the organization’s core objective: leveraging the immense “soft power” of Africa’s creative and cultural landscape to drive economic growth – both internally and internationally – while fostering connections with communities worldwide. Nkiru’s background in media tech, including leading Spinlet (once Africa’s largest homegrown music streaming platform), fueled her vision for the transformative potential of these industries, given the right level of investment and engagement.
An impressive speaker list includes names like H.E. Dr. Joyce Banda, former president of Malawi, and H.E. Wamkele Mene, Secretary General of AfCFTA. Industry leaders like Michaella Rugwizangiga (Rwanda Development Board), Uche Ofodile (MTN Benin CEO), and Temi Popoola (Nigerian Exchange Limited CEO) and many others are also slated to participate. This diverse group promises insightful discussions on the evolving landscape of collaboration and Africa’s role within the global community.
