President Tinubu, in a meeting with Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State alongside representatives from Avatar New Energy Materials Company Limited and Canmax Technologies, delivered significant remarks on Friday in Abuja.

During the gathering, President Tinubu commended Avatar, a Chinese firm, for erecting a lithium processing plant with a daily output of approximately 4,000 metric tonnes. Additionally, Canmax Technologies, another esteemed Chinese entity known for contributing over 30% to global battery material production, disclosed plans for a new investment totaling $200 million towards constructing another lithium processing plant in Nasarawa State.

Expressing enthusiasm over the plant’s inauguration and the promise of fresh investments, President Tinubu stressed the importance of environmental preservation, community involvement, and corporate social responsibility in the operations of these Chinese firms.

He articulated, “Nigeria is a vast market for solar panels, and Africa stands as a significant consumer of solar technologies. There’s ample potential for local production of these panels and batteries, given our favorable labor dynamics, skilled youth populace, and the nation’s growing economy.”

President Tinubu underscored the necessity for these firms to prioritize community welfare amidst their mineral exploration endeavors, emphasizing the imperative of cooperation and community care.

“We extend our hand as caring partners, committed to facilitating your success and further expansion. In a symbiotic partnership, we envision dominating the solar panel market and revolutionizing Africa’s energy landscape,” he added.

The President concluded by encouraging the promotion of bilateral interests between China and Nigeria, positioning the latter as the prime business destination in Africa.
