MOSCOW – Russia expressed support for a key diplomatic meeting aimed at easing tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan. The foreign ministers of both countries are scheduled to meet in Almaty, Kazakhstan on May 10th.
“We welcome the meeting,” said Maria Zakharova, spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry. Zakharova also stated Russia’s willingness to “continue to support the promotion of Armenian-Azerbaijani normalization.”
The details of the meeting remain confidential, though Kazakh officials confirmed media will be allowed to cover the opening session.
