Kenya, Somalia Strengthen Bilateral Ties

Kenya and Somalia are bolstering their bilateral relations as they convened the 3rd Kenya-Somalia Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC) in Nairobi. Led by H.E. Hon. Dr. Musalia Mudavadi, the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs for Kenya, alongside his Somali counterpart, H.E. Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the ministerial session aimed to deepen collaboration between the two nations.

Dr. Musalia Mudavadi commended the strong ties between Kenya and Somalia and praised the efforts of both delegations in organizing the 3rd JCC session. Discussions centered on enhancing cooperation across various sectors including trade, infrastructure, security, agriculture, tourism, health, education, and the blue economy.

The 3rd session of the JCC highlighted a steadfast commitment to enhancing bilateral relations for the benefit of both countries and the stability of the region. As a tangible demonstration of this commitment, the two nations signed two Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) covering Education and Political Diplomatic Affairs.

The event was attended by notable dignitaries including Hon. Kipchumba Murkomen, Cabinet Secretary for Transport and Infrastructure, Hon. Rebbecca Miano, Cabinet Secretary for Trade and Investment, Hon. Aden Duale, Cabinet Secretary for Defence, and Dr. Ezekiel Machogu, Cabinet Secretary for Education, among other distinguished delegations from Kenya and Somalia.
