The Nigerian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, is set to represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the highly anticipated 2024 US-Africa Business Summit in Dallas, Texas. This decision comes after Vice President Kashim Shettima encountered technical issues with his aircraft, compelling him to alter his travel plans on the advice of the Presidential Air Fleet. Despite this setback, Vice President Shettima reassures the public of his commitment to fulfilling other national duties.

The summit, slated to convene at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, is poised to attract a constellation of political and business luminaries hailing from Africa, the United States, and beyond. With its agenda featuring a tapestry of high-level dialogues, networking sessions, and plenaries, the event promises to be a focal point for discussions on bolstering economic ties and exploring investment prospects between the US and various African nations.

Anticipation brews as heads of state from across the African continent prepare to grace the occasion. Among the distinguished guests expected are President Joseph Boakai of Liberia, President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi, President Joao Lourenço of Angola, President Mokgweetsi E.K. Masisi of Botswana, President José Maria Neves of Cabo Verde, and Deputy Prime Minister Nthomeng Majara of Lesotho, adding a further layer of significance to the summit’s proceedings.
