Renowned writer, filmmaker, and former Academic Visitor at the African Studies Centre at the University of Oxford, Onyeka Nwelue, has ventured into the realm of music with his debut single, “Break Your Heart.” The soulful track serves as a glimpse into his upcoming album, “Quimbombó,” and showcases a new facet of his artistic prowess.

Having authored an impressive collection of 25 books, including the critically acclaimed “Hip-Hop is Only for Children,” Onyeka Nwelue has already made a significant impact in the literary world. Now, he explores uncharted territories in the music industry with a poignant message embedded in “Break Your Heart.”

During his time in and out of psychiatry in Mexico, where he sought treatment, the idea for the single took shape. It became a therapeutic outlet following a major scandal that tarnished his reputation at the University of Oxford, a place he once considered a second home. In response to the heartbreak and disillusionment, Nwelue poured his emotions into the song, which stands as an ode to Oxford, acknowledging the knowledge and connections he acquired there while expressing a determination to transcend the adversity.

Collaborating with the skilled in-house producer, Eternal Africa, Onyeka Nwelue brought his vision to life. The carefully crafted arrangement masterfully captures the essence of his experience, leaving listeners with a profound and resonant musical journey.
