Five big changes coming to WhatsApp; know what they are

WhatsApp, the beloved communication app, is set to undergo significant transformations, according to WABetaInfo, a reputable data service. The upcoming changes include a filter chat list, group suggestions, improved video calls, message editing, and a redesigned GIF and Sticker picker.

As one of the most popular messaging platforms in Nigeria, WhatsApp’s continuous updates and beta testing contribute to its enduring appeal. Users can enjoy the app for free on both the iOS App Store and Google Play Store.

WABetaInfo, renowned for monitoring WhatsApp’s developer activities, has shed light on the following modifications:

  1. Filter Chat List: In a future update, WhatsApp plans to introduce a filter bar to the app. This much-anticipated feature aims to simplify the process of sorting chats into subcategories, including all chats, unread messages, personal conversations, and business discussions. Enhancing the overall user experience, this convenient filtering option will prove invaluable for individuals who heavily rely on group chats for communication.
  2. Group Suggestions: WhatsApp is actively working on a feature that suggests groups to community administrators, which will be available in the near future. Users will soon have the ability to propose new groups to community admins. Once a suggestion is received, the admin can choose to add the suggested group to the community, facilitating the discovery of fresh and engaging groups for other community members.
  3. Large Video Calls: WhatsApp is currently rolling out a new feature designed for large video calls. While the app already supports group video calls with up to eight participants and audio calls with up to 32 people, WhatsApp aims to further improve communication by potentially raising these limits in the future. This development ensures that users can effortlessly engage in seamless and immersive conversations.
  4. Message Editing: In response to user demands, WhatsApp is in the process of introducing a message editing feature. Users will soon have the ability to rectify typos or incorrect messages without resorting to deleting and rewriting entire messages. This new tool allows for message edits within a 15-minute timeframe from sending, and users will have the freedom to make an unlimited number of edits during this period.
  5. Redesigned GIF and Sticker Picker: WhatsApp is rolling out a revamped GIF and Sticker picker, resulting in some changes to the keyboard interface, particularly the extended picker view. With this latest feature, users can scroll the picker upwards, granting them convenient access to a larger grid of GIFs and stickers. This intuitive update will significantly enhance the user experience when it comes to selecting and sharing dynamic visual content.

While some of these features were initially accessible to beta testers, they will gradually become available to a wider audience over the coming days.
