Twitter Users Face ‘Rate Limit Exceeded’ Bug Amidst New Restrictions

Twitter users worldwide have encountered challenges while using the platform to tweet and follow other accounts. The source of these difficulties lies in a recently discovered bug that has surfaced in response to the implementation of new user activity restrictions. On Saturday, a significant number of users took to Twitter to express their mounting frustrations, as they began receiving error messages stating “Rate Limit Exceeded.” This notification indicates that they have surpassed the limit set by Twitter for the number of tweets or new accounts they can follow within a specific timeframe.

The issue was first noticed by the online service monitoring platform, Down Detector, which recorded a surge in reports starting at 5:52 PM. As of the latest update, Twitter has not yet disclosed the root cause of this problem, leaving users in the dark about the issue’s origin.

Twitter’s “Rate Limit Exceeded” bug has had widespread implications, affecting users of all kinds, from regular individuals to businesses and influencers who heavily rely on the platform for communication, marketing, and networking purposes. The restriction has hindered their ability to engage with others, share content, and keep abreast of the latest developments.

Users have expressed their frustrations on the platform itself, creating a surge in tweets with the hashtag #TwitterBug and #RateLimitExceeded. They have voiced their concerns about the lack of transparency from Twitter regarding the issue’s cause and its potential impact on their online presence.

Some users have speculated that the bug emerged as a result of recent efforts by Twitter to curb malicious activities, spam, and bot-driven behaviors on the platform. While these measures are essential to maintain a safe and authentic user experience, they have seemingly led to unintended consequences, affecting regular users who have inadvertently crossed the platform’s activity thresholds.
