Media Mogul and PDP Chieftain Chief Raymond Dokpesi Passes Away at 71

Chief Raymond Dokpesi, the Chairman of Daar Communications and prominent figure within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has reportedly passed away at the age of 71 in Abuja.

According to sources close to the family, Chief Dokpesi succumbed to illness at an Abuja hospital after experiencing a stroke. The stroke is believed to have occurred shortly after the conclusion of the recent Ramadan fast, leaving him in critical condition. Despite efforts to manage his health, including occupational therapy to enhance his daily activities, Chief Dokpesi’s condition deteriorated, leading to his untimely demise.

Chief Raymond Dokpesi was widely recognized as a media mogul and influential figure within the Nigerian political landscape. As the Chairman of Daar Communications, he played a significant role in shaping the country’s media industry and establishing platforms such as Africa Independent Television (AIT) as leading sources of news and information.

Beyond his accomplishments in the media sector, Chief Dokpesi was an active member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and a respected chieftain within the party. He contributed his wealth of experience and political acumen to the growth and development of the PDP, leaving a lasting impact on the party’s trajectory.
