Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has been inaugurated for his second term in office, taking the oath of office to commence another four-year tenure. The ceremony, held at the Lagos State Government House, saw the Chief Judge of Lagos State, Justice Kazeem Alogba, administer the oath to Governor Sanwo-Olu, officially marking the beginning of his second term.

Dr Obafemi Hamzat, the deputy governor of Lagos State, had previously taken the Oath of Office for his second term as well, solidifying the leadership team for the next four years. The combined inauguration of the governor and deputy governor underscores the continuity and stability in the state’s administration.

Governor Sanwo-Olu’s victory in the 2023 governorship election was confirmed as he secured an impressive 762,134 votes, emerging as the winner. His closest rival, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party, trailed behind with 312,329 votes. The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Olajide Adediran, secured the third position with 62,449 votes.

The overwhelming support and mandate received by Governor Sanwo-Olu in the election demonstrate the trust and confidence reposed in his leadership and vision for Lagos State. As he embarks on his second term, the governor is expected to build on the accomplishments of his first term and continue delivering on his promises to the people of Lagos.
