The National Association of Nigeria Travel Agencies (NANTA) and the Tour Operators’ Union of Ghana (TOUGHA) are set to hold their first joint industry conference in Johannesburg, South Africa. The conference will bring together key industry players from West Africa and the rest of the continent to share ideas, learn from each other, and deepen engagement.
The conference will focus on scaling up intra-Africa travel, with a particular emphasis on travel between West Africa and South Africa. Speakers and facilitators will share knowledge and experiences on industry operations and emerging trends, as well as how to fast-track Africa’s tourism recovery.
The conference is scheduled to take place on May 5, 2023, at the University of Johannesburg, and will coincide with Africa’s Travel Indaba in Durban. Attendees of the NANTA conference will have the opportunity to participate in the travel fair, which will take place from May 8-11, 2023.
In addition to the conference, there are also planned tours and sightseeing activities before and after the conference, including a road trip from Johannesburg to Durban.
The President of TOUGHA, Alisa Osei-Asamoah, expressed appreciation to NANTA and South African Tourism for the partnership and for extending the invitation to participate in the conference. The President of NANTA, Susan Akporiaye, is optimistic that the conference will provide an opportunity for fruitful exchanges among tour operators and travel agents from across the participating countries.
