The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced Akarachi Amadi (28) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of the supplementary election for the Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency. The results were declared by Prof. Boniface Okoro, the federal constituency returning officer, at the collation center in Nworuibi, Mbaitoli Local Government Area.
Akarachi Amadi secured a total of 21,372 votes, while his closest competitor, Uche Ogbuagu of the Labour Party, received 18,296 votes. The incumbent and candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Henry Nwawuba, received 7,202 votes, while Usmond Ukanacho of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) secured 6,681 votes. Chinonso Uba of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) received 4,100 votes, and Godstime Chukwubuikem of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) received 246 votes.
The election was keenly contested by candidates from various political parties, but Akarachi Amadi emerged victorious with a significant margin. The declaration of Amadi as the winner of the supplementary election has been met with jubilation by supporters of the APC in Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency.
Speaking after the announcement of the results, Prof. Boniface Okoro commended the peaceful conduct of the election and thanked all stakeholders for their cooperation in ensuring a smooth process. He also urged the elected representative, Akarachi Amadi, to fulfill his campaign promises and serve the people of Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency diligently.
Akarachi Amadi’s victory in the supplementary election has further cemented the APC’s stronghold in Mbaitoli/Ikeduru Federal Constituency, and he is expected to represent the constituency effectively in the Federal House of Representatives.
