On Thursday, General Lucky Irabor, the Chief of Defence Staff, paid a visit to the troops of the Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), and praised their bravery, while also urging them to eradicate the remaining insurgents in the Northeast region.
Addressing the soldiers at the Maimalari Cantonment Theatre Command in Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, Irabor charged them to “smoke out” Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists from their hideouts.
Irabor observed that remnants of terror groups were still hiding within Sambisa Forest and the Lake Chad region. He also noted that joint military operations were making significant progress in restoring peace in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states.
In a separate incident, troops from the 222 Battalion successfully repelled an attack by ISWAP fighters in Ajiri village of Mafa Local Government Area, following a government operation that killed 41 terrorists and a commander, Abu Zahra, in Mukdolo and Bone, under Dikwa LGA, on March 26.
