During an interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Thursday, Peter Obi, the Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, discussed his potential involvement in the Government of National Unity proposed by President-elect Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The APC candidate’s team had suggested that Tinubu would establish an all-inclusive government to incorporate his opponents.
However, Obi stated that he was still challenging the election process and declaration, and that it was crucial to rectify the process before discussing the Government of National Unity. He emphasized that the process of achieving anything was more fundamental than the subsequent actions. Obi stated that he could not support a government of national unity while people were still in captivity and urged for the resolution of issues surrounding the election process.
When asked if he would accept the outcome of the election if it did not favour him, Obi expressed his belief that the judiciary would do the right thing. He stated that he would be shocked if the court upheld Tinubu’s election and emphasized the need to address fraudulent and criminal activities witnessed during the election.
