During the visit of the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, to the palace of the Oba of Lagos Rilwan Akiolu on Thursday, the monarch praised Rhodes-Vivour for exercising his right to contest the election but unequivocally declared his support for Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, whom he projected to win the election on Saturday, March 18.
While praying for Rhodes-Vivour and wishing him success in his future endeavors, the Oba maintained that there was nothing wrong with Rhodes-Vivour running for office, but he was convinced that the LP candidate would not emerge victorious.
The Oba commended Sanwo-Olu for the progress he had made as governor, particularly given the difficult circumstances under which he took office. He also assured residents that there would be no violence during the election, implored them to come out to vote, and urged politicians to prioritize service to the people rather than personal gain.
