The Nigeria Agenda 2050 has been approved by the Federal Executive Council with the aim of achieving a seven percent increase in real GDP growth, creating 165 million new jobs, and reducing the number of people living in poverty to 2.1 million by 2050.
President Muhammadu Buhari had inaugurated the National Steering Committee for the preparation of the Medium-Term National Development Plan 2021 to 2025 and Nigeria Agenda 2050 about 29 months ago.
The primary goal of the plan is to lead Nigeria to become an Upper Middle-Income Country and subsequently a High-Income country by 2050.
The council also granted approval for 2.8 billion naira for the procurement of software for the National Population Commission to conduct the National Census in May 2023.
