Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, the Labour Party’s Governorship Candidate in Lagos State, has promised to put an end to the notorious ‘Agbero’ system if he is elected in the upcoming March 18 election.
Speaking at the Youth O’clock breakfast meeting organized by the ‘Obidient Movement’ in Ikeja GRA Lagos, Rhodes-Vivour assured the public that the Labour Party would resist any form of voters’ intimidation or harassment.
He emphasized that his mission is to free Lagos from the shackles of touts and thuggery, and to provide employability skills to young people to tackle the issue of youth unemployment in the state. Contrary to popular belief, he noted that many unemployed youths are not lazy and actually want jobs to earn a decent living.
In response to claims that he is not a Yoruba man and does not understand Yoruba, Rhodes-Vivour explained that the people of Lagos want good governance regardless of the leader’s language or tribe. He described himself as a proper cosmopolitan Lagosian with roots in the Yoruba people and training from the best institutions in the world.
Rhodes-Vivour also promised to improve the healthcare system, education, transportation, clean pipe-borne water system, and other infrastructure in the state if he becomes governor. He stressed that the Obidient project is bigger than any individual and aims to produce thousands of quality men who will continue to serve the country with sincerity of purpose.
Lastly, Rhodes-Vivour highlighted the importance of security and safety in the March 18 election, vowing to resist any form of intimidation and harassment.
