On Tuesday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) criticized opposition parties for demanding the cancellation of the February 25 presidential election.
Dele Alake, a Media Adviser of the APC PCC, condemned the Labour Party (LP) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for their calls for the election’s cancellation, stating that it would undermine democracy.
Alake urged the PDP’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and his LP counterpart, Peter Obi, to concede defeat gracefully, as their candidate had already won, based on the results announced by the state collation centres. Alake cited President Jonathan’s concession to President Buhari in 2015 as an example of good sportsmanship and democracy.
He advised Abubakar and Obi to follow Jonathan’s lead and avoid making reckless statements through their surrogates that could create tensions. Alake called on Atiku and Obi to do the right thing by conceding defeat and contacting Tinubu to save Nigeria.
