During a Town Hall meeting in Makurdi, Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State publicly announced that he is endorsing Mr. Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) for the Nigerian presidential elections.
He stated that he believes Mr. Obi is mentally and physically prepared to get the country working again and that it is time for Nigerians to prioritize capable and competent leadership over political affiliation.
Governor Ortom received a rousing ovation from the attendees, who chanted his name and that of the LP presidential candidate after he made his declaration. He emphasized the need to create a new Nigeria that prioritizes equity, fairness, and justice, and provides gainful employment for the youth.
Governor Ortom pointed out that he is not a member of the LP but is working for Mr. Obi because he believes he has the character and competence to lead Nigeria. He also criticized other political parties, including the PDP and APC, for failing Nigerians.
Mr. Obi was unable to attend the meeting in person due to bad weather, but he addressed the gathering virtually and expressed his gratitude to Governor Ortom and the people of Benue for their support. He promised to visit the state before the elections and to ensure that Benue experiences positive change under his leadership.
