During an interview on Channels Television’s programme called “The 2023 Verdict,” Dele Momodu, a spokesman for the Peoples Democratic Presidential Campaign Council, remarked that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo played a significant role in building the legacy of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
According to Momodu, attributing all of the accomplishments in Lagos to Tinubu’s brilliance is misleading. He explained that there are numerous reasons why Tinubu will not become president and that, if not for Osinbajo’s hard work and brilliance, Tinubu’s much-touted image would not exist.
Recalling Osinbajo’s tenure as Attorney General for Tinubu during his time as Lagos State Governor between 1999 and 2007, Momodu praised his contributions and referenced his leadership in implementing major judicial reforms in the Lagos State Justice Sector. Under Osinbajo’s leadership, the reforms transformed Lagos into a model for other states in the country, addressing critical areas such as judges’ recruitment, remuneration, training, and discipline.
He also created institutions in the Office of the Public Defender and the Citizens Mediation Centre to improve access to justice for the poor. Momodu noted that “when your vices outweigh your virtues, no one will accept you.”
