Leaders of Fulani communities across Nigeria, under the banner of Fulbe United for Peace and Development, have given their endorsement to the presidential campaign of Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC). The leaders, who gathered in Abuja on Sunday, stated that as representatives of the Fulani ethnic group, they were impressed by Tinubu’s credentials and his vision for Nigeria, dubbed the “Renewed Hope” agenda.
The group, in partnership with the socio-political organization Arewa New Agenda, announced their plan to mobilize millions of their 33,661 members to vote for Tinubu in the upcoming presidential election.
After a kola nut-sharing ceremony, the group leader Aliyu Bobboi emphasized their support and trust in Tinubu’s leadership skills and his ability to govern the country effectively if elected. He added that as leaders of their people, the Ardos have the final say on the position of their communities and will ensure compliance.
The group also referenced Tinubu’s Fulani associates, including Governors Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, Abubakar Badaru of Kano and Jigawa States, and former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu.
The leader, Liman, expressed confidence that a Tinubu presidency would prioritize the well-being of the Fulani ethnic group in Nigeria. The group conferred upon Tinubu the title of “Barkindo,” a highly regarded title among the Fulani.
Governor Ganduje praised Tinubu’s leadership abilities and referred to the Fulani people as an endangered species deserving of protection and care. He also noted that Tinubu was dedicated to improving the livestock sector and the lives of herders, and was close to unveiling a blueprint to achieve this goal.
At the event, Tinubu, recalling the warm relationship between his late mother and the Fulani inhabitants of Lagos State, expressed gratitude for the support and affection shown towards his presidential ambition. He promised to create an inclusive environment for all Nigerians.
