Labour Party Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, held a town hall meeting in Maiduguri as part of his campaign for the 2023 elections.
He addressed academics, students, and youth groups at the Conference Hall, Pinnacle Hotels, before meeting with various women’s groups at Barwee Luxury Hotels.
He also paid a visit to the Shehu of Borno’s palace, seeking the monarch’s blessings for his campaign.
The Shehu of Borno commended Obi for the visit and wished him well in his ambition.
He also urged Obi, if elected, to revive the Lake Chad basin, resume oil exploration in the basin, tackle insecurity, poverty and unemployment in the state.
Obi then held a rally at Ramat Square, which was attended by a large crowd of LP supporters.
He promised that if elected, he will turn Nigeria from ‘Consumption to Production’ and work to rescue the country and its people from poverty, corruption, insecurity, and the poor educational system.
He also said that he was the only Presidential candidate that visited Biu local Government Area in the last three days, which is the Zonal headquarters of southern Borno senatorial district, because he believes in a unified and one Nigeria project.
