Naja’atu Muhammad, a former lead campaigner for All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Candidate Bola Tinubu, has announced her support for former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, a rival of Tinubu in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), just hours after resigning from the ruling party.
She visited Atiku at his residence on Sunday and was received by Dino Melaye, a spokesman for Atiku’s campaign.
Muhammad, who is the former director of the Civil Society of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, explained that she had decided to stop supporting Tinubu because he “hardly thinks straight” and that she had “transcended religious, tribal or regional sentiments” in her decision to support Atiku.
In a letter addressed to the APC national chairman, Abdullahi Adamu, she cited recent developments in the country’s political and democratic space as the reason for her resignation.
