Simon Ekpa, a controversial supporter of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, has issued new threats to supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
Ekpa claims that Obi does not “represent Biafran interest” and should not “distort the Biafra dream.”
In a now-deleted live broadcast on his private Facebook account, Ekpa announced that as long as Kanu remains in detention, supporters of the IPOB will continue to participate in “sit-at-home” actions in the South-East region and that elections in the region will not be held.
Ekpa’s comments were met with widespread condemnation and a petition was started on change.org calling for his arrest and prosecution for inciting violence from the diaspora.
The leaders of the IPOB and the Igbo community in Finland have also disowned Ekpa, stating that he does not represent their views.
