Harare, Zimbabwe – Kenya and Zimbabwe are poised for a significant boost in cooperation as the 4th Kenya-Zimbabwe Joint Permanent Commission for Cooperation (JPCC) concluded a successful session in Harare yesterday. The meeting, co-chaired by Kenyan Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and Zimbabwean Foreign Affairs Minister Frederick Shava, paves the way for the signing of several key agreements during Kenyan President William Ruto’s upcoming visit to Bulawayo later this week.
These agreements span a wide range of areas critical to development, including Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) in basic education, training and research, healthcare collaboration, standardization, capacity development, defense cooperation, and investment & development.
The JPCC session also saw the elevation of the commission into a Bi-National Commission, a move symbolizing the deepening ties between the two East and Southern African nations. This enhanced partnership is expected to serve as a model for other African countries seeking to foster stronger regional cooperation.
