Tehran, Iran – Iran’s Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) launched a missile and drone strike against “important military targets” in Israel on Sunday. This dramatic escalation comes after a deadly Israeli airstrike destroyed the Iranian embassy in Damascus ten days ago, killing seven Iranian personnel.
The IRGC statement condemned the international community’s silence on the Israeli attack, which they view as a violation of international law protecting diplomatic outposts. They framed the counterstrike as a “strategic response” and a punishment for the aggression.
Perhaps most concerning, the IRGC issued a strong warning to the United States. They threatened “a decisive and regretful response” for any support given to Israel. The statement further warned any country facilitating future Israeli attacks of “reciprocal and proportional” action from Iran.
The IRGC vowed to defend Iranian interests and maintain national security.
