Guyana’s Foreign Minister Hugh Hilton Todd led a meeting on March 8th, 2024, to address the ongoing influx of Venezuelan migrants. This year’s first Multi-Agency Coordinating Committee meeting brought together government officials and international partners.
The Committee reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting Venezuelan migrants, focusing on both long-term integration and immediate needs. Key areas of focus include healthcare, education, employment opportunities, sanitation, shelter, food, and clothing, with a priority given to the most vulnerable.
Recognizing the high concentration of migrants in Region 1, Minister Todd directed the Committee to organize an outreach program there as soon as possible.
