Every year on March 8th, the world comes together to celebrate International Women’s Day. This year’s theme, #InspireInclusion, calls for a global effort to break down barriers and create a world where all women, regardless of background, are valued and respected.
More than a century old, International Women’s Day marks a long journey towards gender equality. It’s a day to acknowledge the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. But it’s also a reminder of the work that remains.
The gender pay gap persists, with women in the U.S. earning only 83 cents for every dollar earned by men. Globally, women’s average disposable income is still 31% lower than men’s.
International Women’s Day isn’t just about acknowledging challenges. It’s a day to celebrate the trailblazers who paved the way – the suffragettes, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, Amelia Earhart, Serena Williams – all women who defied expectations and broke down barriers.
Happy #InternationalWomensDay💜 Today we celebrate women's achievements & #InspireInclusion across our communities. On #IWD2024 we elevate the focus on #womensequality to help forge a #genderequal world 🌎Thanks everyone everywhere for supporting #women 🙏🏾 https://t.co/CE787vsOiR pic.twitter.com/2UWqM5ike7

This year, the focus is on inclusion. The #InspireInclusion campaign encourages everyone to recognize the unique perspectives and contributions of women from all walks of life.
While demonstrations and marches are planned worldwide, there are many ways to participate. You can attend local events, share selfies on social media using the #IWD2024 and #InspireInclusion hashtags, or simply challenge gender stereotypes in your everyday life.
International Women’s Day is a day for everyone, not just women. It’s a call to action for allies to join the fight for equality. Together, we can create a more inclusive world where all women can reach their full potential.
