Kenya and Yemen pledged to build stronger relations during a meeting between officials in Nairobi this week. Mr. Abdisalam Alawai Al-Awadhi, the Chargé d’Affaires at the Yemeni Embassy, paid a courtesy call on Mr. Abdishakur Hussein, Director of the Middle East Directorate at the Kenyan Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs.
Director Hussein welcomed Mr. Al-Awadhi and expressed his eagerness to collaborate on solidifying the bond between the two nations. The Yemeni diplomat, in turn, congratulated Mr. Hussein on his recent appointment and underscored the importance of increased engagement on issues of peace and security. He specifically called for a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict in Yemen.
Both officials agreed to maintain regular consultations to chart a path forward for strengthened Kenya-Yemen relations.
