Accra, Ghana – Ghanaian citizens worldwide can breathe a sigh of relief, thanks to a generous donation from Mr. Ali Samih Jaafar, Ghana’s Honorary Consul in Beirut, Lebanon. Two state-of-the-art Identifier 60 Novus passport printers have landed at the Passport Office, promising to dramatically speed up processing times and ease long wait times for applicants.
The unveiling of this much-anticipated gift sparked warm appreciation from the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey. She commended Mr. Jaafar’s dedication to supporting Ghanaians abroad, emphasizing his crucial role in facilitating the evacuation of citizens during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hon. Botchwey acknowledged the chronic issue of passport processing delays, highlighting the urgent need for modernization to keep pace with the skyrocketing demand. The newly arrived printers, equipped with advanced technology and boasting a staggering capacity of one thousand passports per hour, offer a beacon of hope for quicker turnaround times and improved service quality.
“These printers will be a game-changer for the passport office, significantly boosting its capacity and ensuring a smoother, more timely passport issuance process,” declared the minister, outlining the potential to alleviate the frustrations of countless applicants across the globe.
Mr. Jaafar, reiterating his unwavering commitment to supporting Ghana’s consular and passport services, expressed his delight in contributing these advanced machines. “These printers are equipped with cutting-edge features aimed at streamlining processes, reducing waiting times, and ensuring a seamless experience for applicants,” he stated, thanking the Ministry for the opportunity to contribute to the nation’s infrastructure.
