Nairobi, Kenya – Kenya and Oman are poised to deepen their economic ties, with a focus on the Blue Economy, safe labor migration, agriculture, tourism, and potential oil and gas exploration. This follows a meeting today between Mr. Kevin Thuo, Acting Director in the Middle East Directorate, and H.E. Mrs. Nasra Salim Muhamed, Oman’s Ambassador to Kenya.
The Ambassador, eager to boost bilateral cooperation, proposed additional agreements and memorandums of understanding (MOUs) across these key sectors. Recognizing the potential for mutual benefit, Mr. Thuo echoed Kenya’s commitment to strengthening trade and commercial relations, as well as fostering closer people-to-people exchanges.
A key proposal emerged from the meeting: a Joint Trade Cooperation (JTC) scheduled for later this year. This ambitious initiative aims to solidify the growing economic partnership between the two nations.
“This JTC is a fantastic opportunity to unlock new avenues for collaboration,” said Mr. Thuo. “We envision a vibrant exchange of ideas, expertise, and investment, leading to tangible benefits for both Kenyans and Omanis.”
