Camaraderie pulsed through Ghana’s Armed Forces Sports Complex as diplomats and Ministry staff converged for the inaugural “Day with the Diplomatic Community” event on December 9th. The theme, “Friendship in Unity,” vibrated with every laugh, cheer, and shared plate of food. This wasn’t just a gathering; it was a vibrant tapestry of sportsmanship, cultural exchange, and a celebration of international collaboration.
“This event fosters community spirit and strengthens the bonds between our nations,” declared Ambassador Ramses Cleland, Chief Director of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration. “Culture is a powerful bridge across borders, and Ghana is enriched by the diverse tapestry of our Diplomatic Community. We share music, art, food, and traditions, forging deeper connections that benefit all.”
The day buzzed with activity as diplomats and Ministry staff competed in soccer, 100-meter races, board games, badminton, and even a lighthearted lime-and-spoon relay. Laughter filled the air as participants tackled sack races and belted out karaoke tunes, their competitive spirit tempered by a shared sense of fun.
Ambassador Maher Kheir, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Lebanon’s Ambassador to Ghana, lauded the initiative. “This event strengthens cooperation and friendship, building bridges between peoples and nations,” he said, expressing the Diplomatic Community’s commitment to future collaborations.
The spirit of unity extended beyond the games, with a feast of diverse culinary delights provided by participating countries. From Lebanese mezze to Ghanaian jollof rice, the shared table offered a delicious symbol of cultural exchange.
