DOHA, Qatar – Somalia’s new ambassador to Qatar, Mohammed Ahmed Sheikh Ali, presented a copy of his credentials to Sultan bin Saad Al-Mariikhi, Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, on Saturday.
The ceremony took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Doha. Al-Mariikhi wished Ali success in his new role and expressed hope that he would strengthen relations between the two countries.
Ali said that he was committed to working with Qatar to promote cooperation in various areas, including trade, investment, and tourism.
Somalia and Qatar have enjoyed close ties for many years. Qatar has been a major supporter of Somalia’s development efforts, providing humanitarian aid and assistance to refugees.
The two countries have also cooperated on security matters, with Qatar providing training and equipment to Somali security forces.
