Pretoria, South Africa – The Nigerian High Commissioner to South Africa, Mohammed H. Manta, held a final departure ceremony at the South African Department of International Relations and Cooperation (DIRCO). The event was attended by South Africa’s Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Dr. Naledi Pandor, as well as the Consul General of Nigeria, His Excellency Andrew N. Idi, and the Acting High Commissioner of Nigeria in Pretoria, Mr. Mike Okwudili.
The ceremony served as an opportunity for the exchange of gifts and a general review of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Both South Africa and Nigeria are considered to be leading nations on the African continent, and they share a long and strong history of cooperation.
In his farewell remarks, Ambassador Manta expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality he had received during his tenure in South Africa. He also commended the South African government for its commitment to strengthening ties with Nigeria.
Minister Pandor, in turn, thanked Ambassador Manta for his contributions to the bilateral relationship between South Africa and Nigeria. She noted that the two countries have a lot to offer each other, and she expressed hope that their cooperation will continue to grow in the years to come.
